Thanksgiving Day is no longer just about family, football, and gluttony. Shopping – in store and online – is staking a claim.

This Thanksgiving, the number of shoppers rose to more than 35 million from 29 million last year, according to the NRF. About 28% of the weekend shoppers were in stores on Thursday night, up from about 24% last year. Meanwhile, online sales on Thanksgiving Day increased 32% to $633 million, according to ComScore.
